I am going Snowboarding soon. What are some tips, things to remember when I go to the mountain?

It is my first time this season.

Wear the right clothes.
Your weight is in your toes. You are going to fall alot at first so don’t get discouraged. Turn with your hips.

Snowboarding: Any tips on how to turn on your toe edge? (Backwards)?

Ive only been snowboarding for like 4 hours and when I’m on my heel edge I can turn really well, but when it comes to doing the toe edge I can only turn to my left :|

Any tips on how to turn both ways really well?

Thanks! :)

From your description, it doesn’t sound like you are actually turning. We don’t turn left and right in snowboarding, we turn toeside and heelside. If I understand your correctly, when you are on your toe edge you can traverse the hill toward the left but not to the right. If that is the case, here is your tip: keep your entire body aligned with the snowboard:knees, hips, shoulders all in line. Then press your chin against your right shoulder to look over your shoulder to the right. Then use a little more weight on your right foot and you will be traveling to the right. Try to look up into the distance and not at the snow. God luck!

I am going to try snowboarding..any Tips?

I am 13 years old and i have skiied for maybe 2 years(something like that) and I have been thinking about trying snowboarding. Is it hard? Should I buy or rent a snowboard? Should I take lessons first or just get out there and try it myself?

I was wondering if you could give me some GOOD tips on basic snowboarding or if you know any sites with beginner info.

ok well i teach lessons and the easiest way to learn is to take basic lessons…I know when I started it helped me get confidence…

You are 13 years old….thats a perfect age to start, your butt will be sore I garentee it but dont be scared! Its a fun sport and once you get going on it you will be absolutly fine

Tips:
Try to find your center balance, keep your knees slighly bent so you feel more stable. Push yourself and no matter how bad it hurts DONT GIVE UP…because once you get it you we feel so proud of yourself…. take risks but be safe! Good luck

Peace-MikaJ

any tips for staying in good snowboarding shape?

i love to snowboard i was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to stay in good snowboarding shape during the summer.

Here’s a good article:

http://www.snowboarding.com/howto/stretching/off_season.html

Before I start the season, I work on the muscles that got extra sore my first time out. Legs: quad, hamstring, and calves. I also try to really strengthen my core (abs & back). Of course 30 min cardio a few times a week help me make it through the whole day on the slopes w/o getting too fatigued. Fatigue is injuries’ best friend. ;)

Need snowboarding tips!?

im going snowboarding with my boyfriend and his family and im HORRIBLE! they’re all really good. how do i carve? im scared cos the first time i tried to do a toe side turn i did a few face plants. i need step by step tips!
helllllllppppppppp the pathetic! thanks !

when you do your toe side turns start out riding STRAIGHT DOWN and ease into the turn by lifting the heel of you lead foot untill you can feel the pressure of your boot on your shin then follow with your other foot. The key here is to EASE INTO IT don’t just shove your knees forward and pull you heels up unless you enjoy eating the mountian! Have fun and just relax!

What are some tips for a beginner to become better at snowboarding?

I can go down, make turns, and make full stops but thats it.. I can’t make turns backwards though. Do you have any tips?

When you say "backwards" do you mean riding fakie?

To become better find a friend who is a bit better than you and ask them to take you on a few (easy) runs. If you follow their line that’ll make you not have to think so hard about where you’re going and leave you able to just think about the turn you’re about to take. When you make a turn commit to it and remember to not dig an edge in until you’re past the fall line.

My friend told me "when in doubt ride it out" and that was a great piece of advice. It takes a while to get comfortable on the board and with speed and give it the time it needs, it’ll click before you know it.
