How do I learn to go toeside on a snowboard?

Hello, I’ve been snowboarding about 5 or 6 times now and I can ride heel side well but last time I tried to ride toeside I wiped out many times and ultimately pulled a muscle (my fault really, should’ve stretched out after the long ride to where I go boarding). I’m not quite sure what I’m doing as far as going toeside goes so it’s hard to learn the right way to do it. From watching other snowboarders, the only thing that I can see them doing when they go toeside is digging the edge of their board into the snow. I tried it and it didn’t work out so well for me, lol. I ride goofy if it matters at all but I feel comfortable going down the hill going switch (left food forward for me) as welll as right foot forward. The only thing is, I can’t turn toeside with either foot forward.

I hope to eventually learn to carve and I’m willing to deal with some spills a long the way of learning to go down toeside and ultimately learning to carve. Anybody have any suggestions as to how I could learn this better?

Thanks in advance.

Time to take another lesson! Private is best, it sounds like you’d nail toeside pretty quickly and one-on-one with an instructor you could skip ahead to the next skill within a lesson.

Even though we can tell you things like "keep your weight over your board" and "put pressure on your toes" that won’t actually help because we can’t see what you’re doing that might be making you fall over or is intimidating you. An instructor can pick out something you are or aren’t doing and correct it easily.

Stay positive and have fun!

Burton Girl’s Chicklet Snowboard

Burton Girl's Chicklet Snowboard

Using their own kids as test subjects, Burton reinvented the Girl’s Chicklet Snowboard to truly revolutionize the way kids learn to ride. Our NEW Easy Rider technology starts with a soft flex fine-tuned to the lighter weights of li’l rippers. We then eliminated the camber and turned up the edges on the base for a board that makes steering and stopping simple. The result is a board that turns first-timer trauma into smiles and high-fives. NEW Riglet accessory that lets you tow junior around ’til she’s ready to rock bindings
