where can i buy some cheap snowboarding gear from end of season sales?

since the end of season is near, where can i find some cheap gear? i dont care bout the brand and stuff, as long as its affordable. you guys know any websites? im looking to get board, boots, and bindings for under 200 altogether

Man, $200 is a pretty tight budget, I’d say impossible to get the "whole package" if you want good stuff even on major sales. My suggestions:

- Find a good friend that wants to get rid of a good extra/old board/bindings and offer him some money (and some favors);
- Check out these websites:
http://www.boardsforless.com
http://www.proboardshop.com/
http://snowboards-for-sale.com/Burton_boots/
http://snowboards-for-sale.com/
http://www.usoutdoorstore.com/d_snowsports/snowboard-shop.htm
http://www.o2gearshop.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=1_24
- e-Bay?? ;

Now, you’re asking for website sugestions but to buy boots I’d tell you to go try them on before you buy.

Good Luck!

Would you buy a snowboard made by a ski company?

Or would the fact that their main priority is skiing put you off?. What do you think of companys like Salomon, Volkl, Atomic, K2, Rossignol or any other ski/snowboard company like that. Are their products as good quality as snowboard only companys such as Forum, Rome, Burton etc.
Socalrid yeah Ride is owned by k2 which is a ski and snowboard company, but as a brand themselves they only make snowboards.

My first board was a Ride Timeless which was an awesome board that I rode for almost 6 seasons.

My current board is a LibTech which although wasn’t (until 06/07) a ski company is part of an apparel, surf, shoe, and…I don’t know what else company.

So I guess my answer is yes…

What’s really most important to me the the quality and performance of the board itself. Beyond that some folks may also make a concious choice around the philosophy and type of company or brand they support (i.e. big corporation vs specialized shop).

It’s all a matter of personal choice, I guess.

Surf or Snowboard- which is easier to learn and more affordable?

I really want to try to learn to surf or snowboard. I am not the most hand-eye coordinated but I have good endurance.Which would be easier to learn? Also, which one is more affordable?

Snowboarding is easier to learn in my opinion, you’re strapped in a board and you can’t fall off. You also aren’t riding a wave that you have to drop in on. Snowboarding takes a lot less endurance too. But surfing is pretty easy if you learn on a longboard so make sure you start out on one.

Surfing might be more affordable because all you need is a board. With snowboarding you need a board, bindings, boots, goggles, and all those winter clothes get really pricey.

Any tips for my first time snowboarding?

I am very stoked to be going to MT/WY/ID this Jan. as I am a Floridian who has never even seen snow!
My hubby is from up there and knows How to Snowboard but I don’t, so I am taking a lesson @ Big Sky when we get there…..

Anyways, ya’ll were so helpful re: my other question, I thought I’d see if anyone has any tips for me ?

Lessons are of course good. Things to remember are keepyour head up and look where you’re going. If you look down you will fall. Keep your legs slightly bent and your arms pretty much straight at your sides. Many people keep there arms out for style but that actually can be undtable. When I teach I put a piece of snowball between the kids hands and legs. If they keep their arms straight at their sides then the snowball stays. They find that the have better turns that way.
When turning think of your foot as the gas pedal. Assuming your regular footed (i.e. your right foot goes forward when pushed from behind) then you’ll push your left toes down to initiate a toeside (right) turn. Then lift up on your left foot toes when making a heelside (left) turn.

that’s a bunch of info, maybe to much to think about if you’re not on the snow, but it’ssome of the basics we teach.

But most important know you’re gonna fall. Maybe get some but pads for that. They sell those online. But when you fall DO NOT PUT YOUR HANDS DOWN. Bring your hands up towards your chest, elbows down, and fal on your forearm. And of course have fun

How can i ride on the tip/tail of my snowboard?

i’ve become pretty good at snowboarding and i was hoping to learn some new tricks. I have seen others riding on either the tip or tail of their board and i was hoping to learn how. Any suggestions?
falling leaf turns?

Easy. Get a flexable park board, set bindings at a wide stance, lean weight on one foot and lift the other end with the other foot. (wide stace is the key) Good luck.

How can I start practicing tricks in snowboarding?

I picked up snowboarding last year and got pretty good, I have total control and balance over the board and everything, and I’m feeling confident enough to start learning tricks, or at least going of jumps. What’s the best way to train for something like that so I don’t kill myself??

Could start by strapping up at home, practice pressing on your tail and nose into an ollie or ollie 180,3’s. Then on the mountain practice the same thing on easy runs eventually moving onto natural small kickers and than man made kickers of bigger sizes.
